Eclectic Martial Arts's Competition Team

At Eclectic Martial Arts, we teach martial arts in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn at their own pace. For those who are striving for more – to get stronger, faster, and wiser – our competition team is the place to be. Going head-to-head with an unknown opponent is the closest our athletes can get to an actual situation requiring real self-defense techniques. You’ll be part of a team that pushes each other to greater heights, and tests themselves regularly to see what they’ve learned. If you feel compelled to take it to the next level, join our competition team today.

Head Coach

The head coach is responsible for all competition curriculum and training exercises. They will seek to fuel the proper motivators for each athlete and help curate skills and strategies necessary to overcome any opposition.

Most importantly, the head coach fosters and supports a team mentality and nothing less. As competitors of Eclectic Martial Arts, we win or lose as a combined unit. But most importantly, we grow and learn together.

Be a Part of Something Greater

At the end of a normal competition, there’s winners and there’s losers. As a part of our competition team at Eclectic Martial Arts, every competitive experience amounts to a win. While many practitioners will benefit for life from our group classes, competition is the best way to attain mastery. It’s an opportunity to put your feet to the fire, overcome your self-doubt and fears, and put your talents on display. Whether you overcome the competition, or lose swiftly, every competitive match presents an opportunity to learn from your weaknesses and mistakes. Every time our athletes compete, they walk away stronger, more motivated, and more confident in their pursuit of greatness.

1. What is Required to Join the Competition Team?

All that’s required is a hard work ethic and commitment to your teammates. This means that you must make consistence appearances in class and show a sincere effort toward your training. Our coaches are here to help those willing to grow.

2. Does Competition Require Special Equipment?

Gi color and size is regulated by the body that governs competitive events. We require our team members to wear Eclectic Martial Arts patches on their gi to represent our school on the mats.

3. Is Competition Right for Me?

We believe every athlete will benefit from competing. However, not everyone feels the same need to test their talents at a higher level. If you love the art and want to improve your skills as much as possible, talk with an instructor about joining the team.

Instructor

Our instructors will be a bit more hands on and work directly with our athletes. While the head coach organizes the curriculum and guides instructors, the instructors will carry out lessons and regularly test your capabilities.

Students on the competition team should bring up all questions and concerns regarding their training. Our instructors are experienced in competitive martial arts and can help you overcome issues with form or technique. They can also work with athletes to curate competitive strategies based upon your personal strengths and weaknesses.
